There's a new chance to meet the local candidates

With the 2019 federal election getting closer, there are still a few opportunities coming up in Timmins to get to know the candidates.

There are five candidates running in Timmins-James Bay - NDP Charlie AngusLiberal Michelle BoileauConservative Kraymr GrenkeGreen Max Kennedy, and PPC Renaud Roy.

The next opportunity to meet all the candidates is Monday, Oct. 7 at Eat, Think, Vote at the Lord's Kitchen, 85 Spruce St. N., from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

The Anti-Hunger Coalition Timmins (ACT) is hosting the event focusing on food security in partnership with Community Food Centres Canada, the Porcupine Health Unit and Cochrane District Social Planning Council.

Eat, Think, Vote's aim is to make sure that food is an election issue.

The Timmins Chamber of Commerce has announced a new meet and greet as well.

Pints and Politicians is being held Thursday, Oct. 17 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at The Surge Sports Lounge, 71 Algonquin Blvd. E.

It's an opportunity for people to have candid conversation with the five candidates about federal policy. The event is free for the public to attend.
