TimminsToday asked each of the candidates to submit a bio to introduce themselves to the voters. Here's Ward 5 candidate Noella Rinaldo’s:

As a past councillor for Ward 3 and Ward 5, I bring eight years of municipal experience. I feel that my work on council, committees and boards have helped shape the city and prepared us for future success.

As past chair of the MRCA, an active board member of the Timmins Museum, the Municipal Accessibility Advisory Board, Timmins Not for Profit Housing, Goldcorp Advisory Committee and the Cochrane District Social Services Board I have insight to what our citizens are facing and looking for to have active, fulfilled lives.

My work connects me daily with business and not-for -profit viewpoints and struggles on what makes a city successful, active and vibrant. I am involved in the city, its citizens and I work to make the city of Timmins, better for the future.

There is much work ahead and I want to continue what has been started.

Most important is the continuation of the dialogue and process of a more equitable formula for the CDSSB. The continuation of the services and support to the smaller communities must be formulated to be sustainable also, for the city of Timmins. The savings to the city are significant but the long term needs for a realistic formula that sustains these important social programs in the future, for the region is critical.

The past term, a clear trend towards growth and prosperity was established.

With more than $11 million spent on the connecting link in the last term and another $6 million coming in the future, we are finally with aggressive campaigning, starting to address our needs for infrastructure replacement, on our roads. We have worked to address the previous decade’s need for updated waste water infrastructure in the East End, and to build infrastructure that will be reliable for future generations.

The cities’ investment in the industrial park has attracted diverse business that continues to invest in the city and create employment. With the investment in mining and growth and expansion from local business, the possibility that the hard work for the Noront project will pay off is optimistic.

As a council we have accomplished with the lowest net expenditure in the last 15 years, to have a significant increase in the statistics for quality of life here in the city.

I know I had a part of that and I would like to continue that work for the future of the city.

The other candidates running in Ward 5 are:

Michelle Boileau, Michael Doody, Karina Miki Douglas-Takayesu, Rick Dubeau, John Ivanovs, Andrew Marks, Kristin Murray, Cory Robin, Jean (John) Roy, Jason Sereda, Alex Szczebonski
