Advance polls open throughout Thanksgiving weekend

If you're ready to vote in the 43rd federal election, advance voting opens tomorrow.

The advance polls are open Friday, Oct. 11, Saturday, Oct. 12, Sunday, Oct. 13 and Monday, Oct. 14 from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. 

There are three sites in Timmins to vote during advance polls — Maurice Londry in South Porcupine, H.R. Bielek Building downtown Timmins, and Travelodge in Mountjoy. 

Voters can only vote at their assigned polling station, which is listed on voter information card. You can also find out your poll at elections.ca of by calling 1-800-463-6868.

To vote, you must prove your identity and address.

Approved pieces of ID include driver's license or other Canadian government-issued ID with your photo, name and current address. This includes ID issued by federal, provincial or local government. 

Without government-issued ID, you can show two pieces of ID with your name and one must have your current address. According to Elections Canada, this includes a voter information card and bank statement, or utility bill and student ID card.

In Timmins-James Bay, there are five candidates in the race.

They are NDP Charlie AngusLiberal Michelle BoileauConservative Kraymr GrenkeGreen Max Kennedy, and PPC Renaud Roy.
