A man has died after being hit by vehicle at a downtown Timmins intersection.

Timmins Police say the crash at the intersection of Cedar Street and Algonquin Boulevard happened June 28 around 10:30 p.m. when the driver of a commercial SUV hit a pedestrian.

Yesterday, police reported the victim had been brought to a Sudbury-area hospital with life-threatening injuries. Police say he has succumbed to those injuries.

The victim has been identified as 53-year-old Lyle Foster. Next of kin has been notified.

After the crash, traffic in the area was redirected for a number of hours for the investigation.

The Timmins Police investigation is ongoing.

According to police, the "comprehensive investigation" is being managed by the traffic section and is working in conjunction with the forensic identification unit and criminal investigations officers.
