The Timmins Police Service is in the midst of completing its investigation into a motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian that occurred at approximately 10:35 yesterday evening.

The collision occurred at the intersection of Cedar Street and Algonquin Boulevard where the driver of an SUV (commercial) struck a 53-year-old male pedestrian who sustained life threatening injury as a result of the collision.

The pedestrian was transported to Timmins and District Hospital by ambulance for treatment for life threatening injuries and has since been transported to a Sudbury area hospital.

As a result of the investigation, traffic flows in the immediate area of the intersection were rerouted for a number of hours to allow for Timmins Police Traffic Section officers and Forensic Identification offices to complete a thorough evidence appraisal and scan of the collision scene.

The investigation is continuing and the Timmins Police Service is making an appeal for anyone who witnessed the collision to come forward to provide their information to assist in the investigation.
