COVID-19: Here's the situation in Timmins today

There are three known active cases in the health unit's region

No new COVID-19 cases or recoveries were reported in the Porcupine Health Unit region today.

To date, there have been 76 confirmed cases of the virus in the region. Of those, 64 are recovered and nine people have died. There are three known active cases — two in Timmins and one in Moose Factory. 

The health unit is aware of 20,312 tests being done in its area, which is an increase of 296 from the last report Friday. In the past week, 2,945 tests were done. That's a spike from the week prior when 714 tests were done.

Public Health Ontario reported 313 new, lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19 today, which is the highest report for a single day since the first week of June. To-date, there have been 44,817 confirmed cases in the province, with 39,974 of those cases (89.2 per cent) being recovered.  In Northern Ontario, there are five known active cases.

Over the weekend, the first confirmed case of the virus was reported on the James Bay coast. It's in Moose Factory. In response, there are changes in effect at Mushkegowuk offices on the island and in Moosonee, as well as in Timmins.
