OPP canine unit tracks, aids in arrest of Cochrane break and enter suspect

COCHRANE, ON - On May 2, 2020, at approximately 9 p.m., members of the James Bay Detachments of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to someone breaking and entering at a municipal property on Second Avenue in the Town of Cochrane.

The OPP Canine Unit with the assistance of the OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT) located the suspect at the scene.

Paul Trepanier, 51-years-old, of Cochrane, has been charged with the following offences:

  • Theft Under $5000 contrary to section 334(b) of the Criminal Code (CC),
  • Mischief - Destroys or Damages Property contrary to section 430(1)(a) CC,
  • Mischief - Obstructs, Interrupts or Interferes with the Lawful Use, Enjoyment or Operation of Property contrary to section 430(1)(c) CC, and
  • Two counts of Break, Enter a Place - Commit Indictable Offence contrary to section 348(1)(b) CC.

The accused person was released at bail court and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cochrane, on July 9, 2020, to answer to the charges.
