Watch: Timmins Police hold change of command ceremony

Dan Foy will be officially sworn in as the chief of the service, replacing John Gauthier, who announced his retirement last year

A change of command ceremony today will see a new chief take the reins at the Timmins Police Service.

Outgoing Chief John Gauthier announced his retirement from the police service in September.

In November, Dan Foy was named Gauthier's successor.

Last week was Foy's last day as the James Bay OPP detachment commander. His OPP career started in Chapleau in 1995 and he's also served as the South Porcupine OPP detachment commander.

The Timmins Police change of command ceremony is Feb. 24 at 1 p.m. It's being held at the Timmins Public Library with limited attendance due to COVID-19 protocol.

TimminsToday will carry the live stream of the ceremony.
