Shirley Street remains closed to traffic for police investigation (updated)

It's been closed for about 12 hours

Shirley Street North remains closed this morning for an ongoing police investigation.

Timmins Police closed the road between Lafleur Drive and Renaissance "in the interest of public safety."

The emergency response team is in the area.

The road closure comes after Timmins Police announced that they are investigating an attempted murder with a firearm-related injury. At this point, police cannot say if the two investigations are related.

There are two schools in the area.

Ecole publique Lionel-Gauthier posted on Facebook that it is open.

Ecole publique Renaissance is also open.
