The Timmins Police Service is in the midst of completing its investigation into an attempted murder incident involving a firearm which occurred early this morning at a Way Avenue residence in Timmins. 

Responding Timmins Police Service officers secured the scene where a 23 year old male party from Quebec had sustained a firearm related injury at the hands of another person. 

The injured male party is currently at Timmins and District Hospital receiving emergency treatment for his injuries. 

This matter is now under investigation by the Timmins Police Service – Criminal Investigations Division with the assistance of the Forensic identification Unit. 

The scene on Way Avenue remains under the control of the Timmins Police at this time to allow for the Timmins Police Forensic Identification Unit to complete its investigative tasks related to this incident 

This is an isolated incident where the parties involved are known to each other. As such, there is no ongoing threat to public safety. 

The investigation is proceeding at a healthy pace and is being managed by senior members of the Criminal Investigations Division.
