Be prepared to be scared on a haunted hay ride.

With Halloween just around the corner, there are a number of ways to scare yourself.

After a couple of years gaining a reputation, Trussler’s Pantry is holding its first Haunted Hay Ride this Friday, Oct. 25. The fun is taking placing a short drive from Timmins, at 1241 Blackbear Rd., Matheson.

A family-friendly option is also being offered prior to the haunted ride.

“It’s going to be fantastic. People are not going to regret driving out here,” said Kara Trussler.

In the past, she said they've done a haunted barn for people on their road, and last year they ran a haunted hall in Matheson.

This year, people looking for a scare can take tour through a haunted trail.

Expect darkness if you dare to take the ride. She said even the tractor won't have lights.

While she doesn't want to give away too many secrets, you can expect scenes with clowns and a cemetery, and a "whole bunch of scary characters."

"We’re going to have loud noises, we’re going to have people jumping out at you,” she said.

For the nighttime ride, it's advertised for people 18 years and up.

“We all know our kids and we know what they can handle,” Trussler said.

There will be two tractors running to bring people through the trail.

Trussler doesn't expect people will have to wait long to hop on the hay ride. If there is a wait, there will be a bonfire, heated building and food.

If you want to check out the trail without the spooks, a daylight hay ride runs from 4:30 p.m. to dusk. Tickets for the family-friendly ride are $10 each and available here

If there are proceeds from the ticket sales, it will be used to help upkeep the farm and also be invested back into the community to support kids' activities and programs.

This weekend, Northern College and Algoma U have teamed up to offer a Haunted Trail at the Porcupine campus.
