A new book by Attawapiskat's Adrian Sutherland is expected to hit the shelves in spring 2022.

Sutherland, the Midnight Shine frontman who is also working on a solo record, has teamed up with Penguin Random House Canada to release his first book which will be edited by Penguin Canada’s associate publisher Nicholas Garrison.

“I couldn’t be happier for the opportunity to do a book,” he said in a news release. “It’s exciting for their team to believe so strongly in the project, and to want to share my story. I’m looking forward to the journey, and this next chapter in my music and writing career.”

According to the news release, when the pandemic started and many live shows got cancelled, Sutherland’s team started working on a book and contacted Vice President and Associate Publisher of Penguin Random House Canada Scott Sellers.

“We’re thrilled to be working with Adrian on his first book. He is an extraordinary talent with an incredible story to tell. All of us here at Penguin Canada are looking forward to working with Adrian on this important book,” Sellers said in the statement.

Writing is not new to Sutherland.

He has written blog posts and magazine features in the past years and his writing has also appeared in publications such as Globe and Mail, HuffPost Canada and Outdoor Canada.
