38 new cases, 4 recoveries reported today

The Porcupine Health Unit is reporting 38 new cases and  four recoveries today. 

Twenty cases are in Timmins, 11 are in the James and Hudson Bay region, five are in the area of Cochrane, Matheson, Iroquois Falls and Smooth Rock Falls, one is in the Kapuskasing area, and one is in the area of Hearst, Hornepayne.

To date, there have been 1,010 confirmed cases in the region. Of those, 709 are recovered and 26 people have died. There are 275 known active cases — 208 in Timmins, 30in the region of Cochrane, Matheson, Iroquois Falls and Smooth Rock Falls, 34 in the James and Hudson Bay region, two in the Kapuskasing area and one in the Hearst, Hornepayne area.

So far, 39,454 people have been vaccinated, which is an increase of 954 from yesterday's report. There have been 43,953 doses of the vaccine administered. 

A vaccination blitz is being held this weekend in Timmins and includes free bus or cab rides to the clinics. Read more on that here

People 12 years and older are eligible to book their first COVID vaccine dose at clinics offering Pfizer. Clinics with Moderna are open to people 18 years and up. A list of upcoming clinics is available here

There are COVID-19 assessment centres in Timmins, Cochrane, Iroquois Falls, Matheson, Kapuskasing, Smooth Rock Falls, Hearst, and Hornepayne, as well as communities on the James Bay coast.
