Free rides being offered for vaccination blitz this weekend

Free rides are being offered to help people get to their COVID-19 vaccination appointment. 

For the long weekend, the Porcupine Health Unit is running a vaccination blitz featuring walk-in and appointment-only clinics. The events are for first doses and open to people 12 years and up. 

Friday, May 21 to Monday, May 24, Timmins Transit is offering free rides for people going to a vaccine appointment, according to a City of Timmins announcement.

Saturday to Monday there will be a shuttle from the Timmins Transit terminal downtown to each vaccine clinic location. The regular bus service and shuttle have been added to the Victoria Day holiday schedule from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Vet's Taxi is also offering complimentary rides, according to the city. 

To access the service, call Vet's Taxi. No stops are permitted along the way. 

Vaccination blitz clinics are being held:

  • Friday, May 21, 1 - 7 p.m. Food Basics parking lot, 105 Brunette Rd. This is a walk-in clinic. Appointments are not necessary.
  • Saturday, May 22, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. Timmins Native Friendship Centre, 179 Kirby Ave. This is a walk-in clinic. Appointments are not necessary. 
  • Saturday, May 22, 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. Whitney Arena in Porcupine.
  • Sunday, May 23, 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. Mountjoy Arena in Timmins.
  • Monday, May 24, noon - 8 p.m. Mountjoy Arena in Timmins.
