12 additional COVID cases reported

Twelve new COVID-19 cases are being reported by the Porcupine Health Unit region today.

These are in addition to the 20 cases reported this morning. A total of 32 cases have been confirmed in the region today. 

Nine of the new cases are in Timmins and three people are in Moosonee.

Three people are contacts of a case, one is related to an outbreak and the exposure of eight cases is under investigation.

To date, there have been 925 confirmed cases in the region. Of those, 690 are recovered and 26 people have died. There are 209 known active cases.

A vaccination blitz is being held this weekend in Timmins and includes free bus or cab rides to the clinics. Read more on that here

People 12 years and older are eligible to book their first COVID vaccine dose at clinics offering Pfizer. Clinics with Moderna are open to people 18 years and up. A list of upcoming clinics is available here

There are COVID-19 assessment centres in Timmins, Cochrane, Iroquois Falls, Matheson, Kapuskasing, Smooth Rock Falls, Hearst, and Hornepayne, as well as communities on the James Bay coast.
