COVID-19: Here's the situation in Timmins today

One new COVID-19 recovery was reported in the Porcupine Health Unit region today.

To date, there have been 81 confirmed cases of the virus. Of those, 66 people have recovered and nine people have died. There are six known active cases in the region.

The health unit is aware of 21,610 tests being done, which is an increase of 109 from yesterday's report. 

In the past week (Sept. 14 to Sept. 21), 1,189 tests were done in the area. That's a drop from the week prior when more than 3,000 tests were completed.

The Porcupine Health Unit has issued an advisory for travellers who may have been exposed to the virus. It affects a Sept. 16 Air Canada flight, as well as the Ontario Northland bus and train. Full details on the impacted trips are available here.

Public Health Ontario reported 478 new COVID-19 cases today, which is the highest number of new cases reported in a single day since early May. There have been 47,752 lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19 reported in Ontario, with 41,342 now listed as recovered and 2,832 cases ending in death. There are 18 known active cases in Northern Ontario.
