COVID-19: Here's the situation in Timmins today

No new COVID-19 cases or recoveries were reported by the Porcupine Health Unit today.

To date, there have been 67 confirmed cases of the virus in the region. Of those, 58 are recovered and eight people have died. There is one known active case.

The health unit is aware of 7,912 tests being done in the region, which is an increase of 62 from yesterday's report.

Ontario Public Health reported 165 confirmed cases today. In Ontario, there have be 35,535 cases of the virus. Of those, 30,909 are resolved and 2,682 people have died. There are 15 known active cases of the virus in Northern Ontario.

The City of Timmins is considering a mask bylaw. Ahead of the meeting, council is garnering feedback from the community. To make it easier to have a say, one councillor has launched an online survey.

The Mountjoy Farmers Market launches its 2020 season tomorrow, with a few changes due to COVID-19.

With less traffic at the airport, the runways are getting an upgrade this summer. 

COVID-19 testing is open to anyone who feels they need to be tested, even if you don't have symptoms. To access testing, call your health care provider or the health unit.

There are COVID-19 assessment centres in Timmins, Cochrane, Iroquois Falls, Kapuskasing, Smooth Rock Falls, Hearst and Hornepayne.
