COVID-19: Here's the situation in Timmins today

There are no new cases or recoveries in the health unit's region

For the second consecutive day, the Porcupine Health Unit is not reporting any new COVID-19 cases or recoveries.

To date, there have been 65 confirmed cases in the area. Of those, 49 are resolved and five people have died. The health unit is following 11 known active cases.

Staff and residents at nine of the 10 long-term care homes in its region have now been tested. 

In Ontario, 329 new lab-confirmed cases were reported, which is a 1.6 per cent increase from yesterday. The province has reported 21,236 lab-confirmed COVID-19 cases since Jan. 15, and of those 15,845 people have recovered and 1,765 people have died.

The 2020 Great Canadian Kayak Challenge has been cancelled in Timmins. 

The provincial state of emergency has been extended to June 2.
