COVID-19: Here's the situation in Timmins today

No new confirmed COVID-19 cases or recoveries were reported by the Porcupine Health Unit today.

So far there have been 60 confirmed cases of the virus in the region. Of those, 43 are recovered and four people have died.

In April, 42 cases of the virus were reported in the health unit's area. More than 1,700 COVID-19 tests were done in the region in April. April 1, it was reported that 303 tests had been completed, with this report showing 2,055 now being done.

There are three active COVID-19 outbreaks in the city. They are at Timmins and District Hospital, as well as Spruce Hill Lodge and St. Mary's Gardens.

Ontario Public Health reported another 421 lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the province today, as well as 620 recoveries and 39 deaths. The province has reported a total of 16,608 lab-confirmed cases of the coronavirus since the pandemic began, and of those 10,825 people have recovered and 1,121 people have died. 

Ontario Premier Doug Ford has released a list of businesses allowed to open May 4. Season businesses and services, and essential construction projects have the green light to open, while marinas and golf courses can prepare for the season. Two COVID-19 outbreaks have been declared at long-term care homes in Timiskaming.
