COVID-19: Here's the situation in Timmins today

The Porcupine Health Unit is not reporting any new positive tests in the past 24 hours.

There have been 55 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the health unit's region so far. Of those, 34 are resolved and three people have died.

The health unit is aware of 1,585 tests being completed, which is an increase of 104 from the last report. There are 520 tests under investigation.

For the local cases, 33 are in Timmins and 21 of those are resolved and two people have died, 21 are in the area of Cochrane, Matheson, Iroquois Falls, and Smooth Rock Falls and 12 of those are resolved and one person has died, and one is in the area of Kapuskasing, Opasatika, Val Rita-Harty, Moonbeam, and Fauquier-Strickland and is resolved.

Ontario Public Health confirmed 640 new cases of COVID-19 today, another 407 recoveries, and 50 more deaths attributed to the virus. There have been 13,519 cases of COVID-19 confirmed in Ontario since the start of the pandemic, and that includes 7,807 recoveries (52.4 per cent) and 763 deaths.

PHU's medical officer of health is urging people that it's not time to let their guard down yet, and the police chief says COVID-related calls have declined. Read more from today's daily pandemic update from the city here.
