The election race is on in Ward 4.
Tim Jamieson has filed his nomination papers to run in the ward that represents the Porcupine and Connaught areas. Earlier this week, John Curley registered to run in the ward again.
Jamieson was born and raised in Porcupine and his wife Lisa was born and raised in Schumacher/Porcupine. He has one son and a daughter.
"I have spent most of my childhood and adult life living in Timmins/Porcupine and have a strong love and attachment to our community and its people. For this reason, I wish to serve the people of Ward 4," he said in a statement.
"I believe our city needs a long-term plan to address the crumbling infrastructure, because filling potholes and doing emergency repairs is not a long-term solution. Living in Timmins has provided so many opportunities over the years for myself and family, and if the people of Ward 4 choose to elect me, I would be honoured to serve in their best interest and the interests of the community as a whole."
He was recently a finalist in the Downtown Timmins BIA's Win the Space competition, where he pitched opening Sparks Pizza.
Time is running out to register for the municipal election.
The nomination deadline is Aug. 19. The municipal election is on Oct. 24.
