TimminsToday asked each of the candidates to submit a bio to introduce themselves to the voters. Here's Ward 1 (Mountjoy) candidate Ken Pye's:

Born in Toronto 1963. Raised in Timmins 1964-present.

My mother’s family came to Timmins in early 1940s. Grandparents Jack and Beulah Atkinson.

Jack was Reeve of Mountjoy in the late ‘60s

My father's side also came to Timmins in the ‘40s.

My grandfather Chess Pye was a driftman in various mines in the Timmins camp.

I was a prospector/claimstaker and land surveyor.

Currently my summer job is the Tree Bandit.

Past three winters I dedicated myself to building Sk8te Hollinger for the people of Timmins.

I stand for:

• Quality of Life

• Community Pride

• Fiscal Responsibility

I will support any quality of event or activity. But will not support Stars and Thunder 3.

I would support a Canada Day weekend with free admission for all as this would be a true quality of life event. I would propose joining forces with local service clubs and possibly TFEC if they were interested.

I'd have no problem voting to have city dollars sponsor a free Canada event.

The other Ward 1 candidates are:

Veronica Farrell and Rock Whissell
