A woman was injured after being intentionally hit with a household item, say police.

On Saturday, Sept. 24, Timmins Police responded to a call at a Birch Street North residence.

Police allege that a 24-year-old woman's face was injured when a co-habitant of the residence struck her when she arrived home. The attack was unprovoked and intentional, say police.

A 27-year-old woman from Timmins is charged with assault with a weapon.

She was released from police custody after a bail hearing and appears in court again on Oct. 18.

None of the charges have been tested in court and the accused is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
