Woman charged after police find her with stolen dirt bike

The Timmins Police Service has charged a local woman with a stolen property-related offence stemming from an incident that occurred early this morning (Aug. 5) where an allegedly stolen dirt bike was located in her possession.

While completing patrols of the downtown core areas, a Timmins Police Service officer observed a female suspect pushing a Yamaha dirt bike along the sidewalk of Kirby Street.

Upon being approached by the police, the suspect dropped the dirt bike to the ground and fled on foot.

The woman was arrested after a brief foot pursuit.

The dirt bike was collected from the scene as stolen property by the Timmins Police.

As a result of the incident, Erica Linklater, 30 of Timmins, has been charged with:
    •    possession of property obtained by crime contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
    •    fail to comply with probation order contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
    •    two counts of fail to comply with release order contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

The accused remains in police custody awaiting a bail hearing slated for today at Provincial Court in Timmins to answer to the charge laid against her.
