Woman accused of evading, assaulting police in Kirkland Lake area

KIRKLAND LAKE - On Aug. 5, 2021, members of the Kirkland Lake Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of mischief that occurred at a camp ground in Arnold Township.

Police arrived to the scene, the accused was uncooperative and attempted to evade police by going into the water. The accused eventually came out of the water and while being placed under arrest, assaulted an officer.

As a result, Riley Wilson, 19 years of age, of Brantford, Ontario, was charged with;

  • Assault a peace officer, contrary to section 270(1)(a) of the Criminal Code (CC)
  • Resist peace officer, contrary to section 129(a) of the CC
  • Mischief, contrary to section 430(1)(a) of the CC

The accused was released on an Undertaking and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on Sept. 23, 2021, in Kirkland Lake.
