The Timmins Police Service arrested a Timmins resident stemming from an incident where the suspect was found to be in breach of court-imposed conditions listed in a Release Order.

While completing crime abatement patrols during the early morning hours of Sunday, Sept. 11, a Timmins Police officer recognized a pedestrian on Cedar Street North as a person named in a current Arrest Warrant held by the Timmins Police.

Upon being approached by the police, the subject fled on foot but was apprehended shortly afterwards.

Further investigation revealed that the subject had breached court-imposed curfew and report-in conditions listed in his Release Order.

Once the validity of the conditions was confirmed, the subject was arrested.

As a result, Joseph Steed, 41, of Timmins was taken into police custody and is charged with:

  • Two counts of Fail to Comply with Release Order contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

The accused remains in police custody awaiting a bail hearing slated for today at the Ontario Court of Justice in Timmins to answer to the charges laid against him.
