'Unwanted person' call leads to arrest of Timmins man

38-year-old was in possession of a controlled substance at the time of his arrest, police say

The Timmins Police Service has charged a local man with a drug related offence stemming from an incident that occurred during the early morning hours of Saturday, Nov. 27 at a Tamarack Street apartment.

A Timmins Police Service officer responded to an unwanted person call for service and located the subject of the complaint.

Further investigation revealed that the subject of the complaint was in breach of court imposed conditions regarding being prohibited from consuming alcohol.

Upon arrest, a quantity of a controlled substance was located on the suspect’s person.

As a result of the incident, Anthony Hughie, 38 of Timmins, has been charged with:
    •    possession of a controlled substance contrary to the Controlled Drug and Substances Act
    •    fail to comply with probation order contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

Hughie remains in police custody awaiting a bail hearing slated for this morning at the Ontario Court of Justice in Timmins to answer to the charges laid against him.
