Two charged after robberies at local financial institutions

The suspects stole an undisclosed amount of cash in two separate incidents

The Timmins Police Service has arrested and charged two local persons with robbery-related offences stemming from two separate recent incidents. 

The first incident occurred during the early afternoon hours of Friday, Nov. 12, where a female suspect attended at a Mountjoy Street North financial institution and performed a robbery. 

The second incident occurred in very similar circumstances during the mid-afternoon hours of Monday, Nov. 15 where again, the same female suspect attended at a financial institution located on Cedar Street South and performed a second robbery. 

In both instances, the suspects made off with an undisclosed amount of cash.  

Based on investigation conducted by the Timmins Police Service – Criminal Investigations  Division, both suspects have been identified.  

The male suspect has been determined to be the driver in both robberies. The male suspect was arrested and taken into police custody on Nov. 16, while the female suspect was located and arrested yesterday morning at a Timmins hotel. 

As a result of the incidents, Christopher Ure, 59, and Sherry Toal, 42, both of Timmins, have been charged respectively with two counts of Robbery contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada 

Toal has been charged with two additional counts of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. 

She remains in police custody awaiting a bail hearing slated for today at the Ontario Court of Justice in Timmins to answer to the charges laid against him. 

Ure was released from police custody at a bail hearing held on November 17th. He is bound by strict conditions including having to attend at the Ontario Court of Justice on Dec. 6 to answer to the charges laid against him.
