The Timmins Police Service has charged a local woman with impaired driving related Criminal Code offences stemming from an incident that occurred during the evening hours of Friday, July 30 in Timmins.
A number of concerned citizens observed a Toyota Tacoma pickup truck being driven in an erratic fashion while travelling eastbound on Highway 101 west as it continued onto Riverside Drive in Timmins at approximately 8:10 in the evening.
A responding Timmins Police Service officer located the vehicle and initiated a traffic stop off of Waterloo Road.
The officer made independent observations about the driver’s sobriety.
Based on these observations, the driver of the truck was arrested after registering a “fail” on a roadside breath test with an approved screening device (ASD).
The driver was taken into custody for the purposes of further Intoxilyzer breath testing procedures at the police station.
As a result of the incident, Jamie Selman, 37, of Timmins, has been charged with:
• impaired operation of a motor vehicle - concentration in excess of 80 mgs of alcohol per 100 mls of blood contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
The accused was released from police custody on the strength of an Undertaking compelling her to attend at Provincial Court in Timmins on Aug. 25 to address the charges laid against her.
