Timmins woman arrested after ring worth nearly $20K reported stolen

The charges against Rameeza Khan were unconditionally withdrawn at the request of the Crown on July 21, 2021, according to her lawyers Tuffman & Associates.

The Timmins Police Service has charged a local person with theft related offences stemming from an incident that occurred on Thursday, March 25 at a local jewelry store.

Officers with the Timmins Police Service – Criminal Investigations Division investigated the matter where a diamond ring valued at $19,800 was stolen from a local jewelry retailer.

The investigation culminated with the arrest of a female suspect on Thursday, April and the execution of a search warrant at a MacLean Drive residence that same day which yielded the recovery of the stolen ring.

As a result of the incident, Rameeza Khan, 50 of Timmins, has been charged with:
    •    Theft over $5,000 contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
    •    Possession of property obtained by crime - over $5,000 contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

Khan was released from police custody on April 22 on the strength of an undertaking compelling her appearance at Provincial Court in Timmins on May 25 to answer to the charges laid against her.
