Timmins resident charged with counselling to commit murder

The accused's name is not being released to protect the identity of the victim

A Timmins resident is facing criminal charges following an investigation in Kapuskasing. 

Aug. 3, 2021, James Bay OPP say they "received a report regarding an individual soliciting assistance in committing a murder." The incident was investigated by the James Bay OPP Crime Unit under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch. 

A 64-year-old from Timmins, whose name is withheld to protect the identity of the victim, has been arrested and charged with counselling an indictable offence that hasn't been committed yet, public mischief and uttering threats.

The person remains in custody awaiting a bail hearing.
