Timmins man accused of stealing beer from local grocery store

The Timmins Police Service has charged a local person with theft related offences stemming from an incident that occurred on Thursday, May 6, at a local grocery store.

The Timmins Police Service responded to the call for service yesterday afternoon regarding a person who had fled on foot from the grocery store, after having taken a quantity of beer.

Based on the investigation, the responding officer was able to identify, locate, and arrest the male suspect a short distance from the original scene.

As a result of the incident, Andrew Wesley, 41, of Timmins, has been charged with:

  • Theft under $5000 contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Possession of property obtained by crime contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Fail to comply with probation order contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

Wesley remains in police custody awaiting a bail hearing slated for today at provincial court in Timmins to answer to the charges laid against him.
