Timmins man accused of resisting arrest

The Timmins Police Service has charged a local man with a number of Criminal Code offences stemming from an incident that occurred in Schumacher during the morning hours of Wednesday, Aug. 19.

The Timmins Police Service received a report of a male subject who, despite being bound by strict conditions imposed by the courts not to communicate with a specific person, persisted in doing so.

Responding Timmins Police officers were able to identify and locate the suspect.

Upon being approached, [it is alleged that] the man resisted the initial arrest undertaken by the Timmins Police officer but was eventually taken into custody.

As a result of the incident, Michael Campbell, 64 of Timmins, has been charged with:
    •    two counts of fail to comply with undertaking contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
    •    resist/obstruct peace officer contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

The man remains in police custody awaiting a bail hearing slated for today at Provincial Court in Timmins, to answer to the charges laid against him.
