Timmins man accused of giving police false name

Police also say the property was seized from the suspect

The Timmins Police Service has charged a local man with a number of Criminal Code offences stemming from an incident that occurred early this morning on Algonquin Blvd in Timmins.

While completing crime abatement patrols, a Timmins Police officer observed a local man pushing a grocery cart containing a number of items whose legitimate origin is being determined by means of further investigation.

Upon being interviewed by the police, the man indicated he had found the items and then proceeded to provide a false name to the police officer. The suspect’s genuine identity was determined and the subject was arrested. The property has been seized as evidence by the Timmins Police Service.

As a result of the incident, Larry Campbell, 42, of Timmins, has been charged with:

  • Fail to comply with release order contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Obstruct peace officer contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

The man remains in police custody awaiting a bail hearing slated for today at provincial court in Timmins, to answer to the charges laid against him.
