Timmins man accused of assault and robbery

24-year-old faces weapons charges as a result

The Timmins Police Service has arrested and charged a local man with robbery related offences stemming from an early morning incident where a 39-year-old man was assaulted with a weapon and had personal property stolen from him.

The incident occurred this morning at approximately 1:30 a.m. in an alley way off of Cedar Street North in Timmins.

Responding Timmins Police Service officers located the suspect a short distance from the scene and found him to be in possession of the weapon used and the personal property that belongs to the victim.

The suspect was arrested and taken into police custody.

As a result of the incident, Rylan Charbonneau, 24 of Timmins, has been charged with:
    •    Robbery with a weapon contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
    •    Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
    •    Possession of property obtained by crime contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

He remains in police custody awaiting a bail hearing slated for this morning at Provincial Court in Timmins to answer to the charges laid against him.
