Timmins Police Service is joining departments across Ontario in kicking off Police Week (#PoliceWeekON), which celebrates the work front-line officers, 911 communicators, civilian staff, and all members do every day to keep our citizens safe and healthy, a news release states.

This year, Police Week runs from May 14-20. The theme for the week is Building Bridges: Celebrating Police-Community Partnerships.

Police Week coincides with the Peace Officers Memorial Day, which is recognized internationally on May 15.

“Police Week helps bring Ontario police services and communities together to honour and celebrate police officers and personnel for the extraordinary work they do every day,” said Timmins Police Chief Dan Foy.

Throughout this week, the Timmins Police Service will be promoting the many ways in which our officers and civilians continue to  serve the community during these challenging times in law enforcement. The annual Police Week in Ontario is sponsored by the Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police (OACP) and the Ontario Ministry of the Solicitor General. It is part of the National Police Week led by the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police.
