Three charged following theft from grocery store

The Timmins Police Service has charged a trio of local persons with theft related offences stemming from an incident that occurred on Tuesday, Aug. 25 at a Riverside Drive grocery store.

Timmins Police Service officers responded to a call for service regarding a theft in progress where [it is alleged that] the three suspects had fled on foot having left the store without making any attempt to pay for the items they had collected.

The trio of suspects was eventually located based on descriptors provided by witnesses and taken into custody.

As a result of the incident, Allyson Etherington, 33; Theresa Ellis, 31; and Harold Nakogee, 31, each of Timmins, have been charged respectively with:
    •    Theft under $5,000 contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
    •    Possession of property obtained by crime contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

Nakogee is charged with an additional count of:
    •    Fail to comply with probation order contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

All three have been release from police custody on the strength of respective Undertakings compelling each of them to attend at Provincial Court in Timmins on Oct. 20 to answer to the charges laid against them.
