Teen charged after assault in hotel room: Police

Aggravated assault, carrying a concealed weapon among the charges

A 17-year-old is facing four serious charges after an alleged assault in a Timmins hotel room. 

Early on Monday, Jan. 1, Timmins Police says that two females were assaulted by a female suspect in a hotel room.

"A weapon was used during the argument that escalated to the point of being physical," said police in a news release.

"Both victims sustained injuries that required transportation to hospital by ambulance for medical treatment."

The suspect was arrested at the scene. 

A 17-year-old, who can't be named due to the Youth Criminal Justice Act, is charged with two counts of aggravated assault, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and carrying a concealed weapon. 

The accused was held in police custody and is waiting for a bail hearing today.

None of the charges have been tested in court and the accused is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
