Suspected cocaine, hashish seized by police

A 52-year-old Kapuskasing man is facing trafficking and other charges

On June 24, 2021, at approximately 1:04 p.m. members of the Ontario Provincial Police Community Street Crime Unit, and members of James Bay Detachments OPP, executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act search warrant at a residence on Wolfe Street in the Town of Kapuskasing. 

A search of the residence led to the seizure of suspected cocaine, suspected hashish, a rifle, and Canadian currency.

As a result of the investigation Robert Levesque, 52 years old from Kapuskasing was arrested and charged with:

  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - cocaine, contrary to section 5(2) of the CDSA
  • Possessing cannabis for the purpose of selling, contrary to section 10(2) of the Cannabis Act
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5000 - in Canada, contrary to section 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code (CC)
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm, contrary to section 91(1) of the CC
  • Careless storage of firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition, contrary to section 86(1) of the CC

The accused person is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on July 26, 2021 in Kapuskasing.
