Section of Riverside Drive closed for crash involving pedestrian (reopened)

Update, 1:20 p.m.:

A pedestrian received serious lower body injuries in a crash today (Sept. 21). 

Timmins Police say the 23-year-old woman was hit by a pickup truck while crossing Riverside Drive at an uncontrolled intersection around 11:40 a.m. She is conscious and being treated at Timmins and District Hospital, says police.

The road is expected to remain closed between Royale and Joseph for the next few hours for the investigation.

Police say the male driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and is being co-operative with police.

"A significant number of passersby rendered immediate assistance in terms of providing first aid to the injured person and providing witness statements to the police," reads a news release.

A section of Riverside Drive is closed for a crash involving a pedestrian, says Timmins Police.

The crash is near the Royale Street (where Dumoulin's is) intersection. Few other details are known at this time.
