Scooter driver seriously injured in crash

The Timmins Police Service is in the midst of completing its investigation into a motor vehicle collision that occurred during the early evening hours of Tuesday, Oct. 5 at the intersection of Montgomery Avenue and Preston Street. 

The collision involved an SUV driven by a 23-year-old Timmins woman and a 29-year-old Timmins man operating an electric scooter. 

The root cause of the collision is being determined through investigation led by the Timmins Police – Traffic Services Section with the assistance of Scenes of Crime Officers (SOCO). 

The 29-year-old male operator of the scooter sustained serious injury in the collision and was transported to hospital by ambulance. 

Both vehicles involved in the collision remain in the custody of the Timmins Police for the purposes of respective mechanical fitness appraisals.  

The Timmins Police Service is seeking any independent witnesses to come forward to assist  with the investigation by calling in at 705-264-1201. 

At present, no charges have been laid but the investigation is continuing.
