Police share new images of man from day he went missing

Police have been looking for 36-year-old Ryan Armstrong since earlier this week

Editor's Note: Police located the body of Ryan Armstrong on June 13, 2023. No foul play is suspected.

As the search for a Timmins man missing since Monday continues, new images of what he was wearing that day have been released.

Armstrong, 36, has been missing since earlier this week. Today (June 9) Timmins Police released new photos of the clothing he was wearing on the day that he went missing.

While police have made several appeals for help in locating Armstrong, few details have been released about the ongoing search.

June 6, Timmins Police's emergency response team (ERT) and OPP canine unit searched a wooded area at the end of Mountjoy Street South as part of the investigation. The search "did not yield anything of investigative significance" and the next day, police renewed the public call out to locate Armstrong and confirm his well-being.

Police have not commented on where Armstrong may be or if he's still believed to be in Timmins.

He was last seen wearing a light-coloured hoodie, track pants with a reflective stripe down the side, teal running shoes and headphones. He is described as:

  • A white male
  • 36 years old
  • 5' 8" tall
  • 200 pounds with a muscular build
  • Blue eyes
  • Spiked light brown hair with blond highlights
  • A number of tattoos on both arms, hands, neck and face

In 2017, Armstrong was sentenced to 10 years in prison after pleading guilty to manslaughter and improperly or indecently offering an indignity to human remains for the killing of Vikki Heppner in 2016 in British Columbia.

With time served prior to being sentenced — which is 1.5 days for every day — Armstrong had a credit of three years and 356 days. In most cases under Canadian law, federal offenders are granted statutory release after serving two-thirds of their sentence, allowing them to serve the remainder of their sentence in the community under some form of supervision.

Police have maintained that there is no threat to public safety.
