Police seize suspected cocaine during search of Kirkland Lake vehicle, residence

KIRKLAND LAKE - On Aug. 24, 2021, The OPP North East Region Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), with the assistance of the North East Region Canine Unit executed a search warrant on a motor vehicle and at a residence on Government Road West in the Town of Kirkland Lake.

Police seized drugs suspected to be cocaine and Canadian Currency. Total street value of the seizure is estimated to be over $3,000.

As a result two people have been arrested and charged.

Desirae Thompson, 29 years of age, of Kirkland Lake, has been charged with the following:

  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - cocaine, contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA)
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, contrary to section 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code (CC)

Mitchell Lambert, 23 years of age, of Kirkland Lake, has been charged with possession of a schedule I substance - cocaine, contrary to section 4(1) of the CDSA.

Both accused were released on an undertaking and are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Kirkland Lake on October 7, 2021.
