Police seize $363K in drugs, $6,000 in cash

Two people facing dozens of charges, police still looking for two other suspects

Two people have been charged and police are looking for two others after a significant drug bust in Timmins.

The investigation that started after a violent home invasion earlier this month led to the seizure of drugs with an estimated street value of $363,779 and $6,080 in cash.

A man and woman, both from Timmins, are facing dozens of charges. Two other suspects — a man and a woman — are still being sought by police.

The incident started the early evening of April 4 when uniformed officers responded to a home invasion on Birch Street North, said Timmins Police Staff Sgt. Mark Vallier.

Police say the suspects forced their way into the residence and accosted the male and female inside.

A firearm was brandished but not used by a male suspect, said Vallier. The firearm has not been recovered.

“The same male suspect located the victim’s cell phone and fled with it along with the three other suspects,” said police.

A 50-year-old man received injuries to his face in the incident. He was brought to the hospital for treatment.

Uniformed officers couldn’t locate the suspects that night and the Criminal Investigations Division and drug unit picked up the investigation the next day.

A female suspect was arrested April 5 in a high-risk traffic stop in Mountjoy, said Vallier.

As a result of that stop, two search warrants were executed on April 6 — one at a Joseph Street residence and one for the vehicle she was driving.

A male suspect was arrested April 8 during a traffic stop at the intersection of Algonquin Boulevard and Spruce Street.
