Police looking for driver who ditched stolen truck on Hwy. 144

On Dec. 7, at 10:40 a.m., officers responded to reports of a vehicle located in the ditch about three kilometres south of Halfway Lake Provincial Park on Highway 144.

Provincial police are seeking help in identifying the driver of a vehicle that was stolen from Greater Sudbury.

On Dec. 7, at 10:40 a.m., officers responded to reports of a vehicle located in the ditch about three kilometres south of Halfway Lake Provincial Park on Highway 144.

The 2017 silver Dodge Ram was headed southbound on the highway, before driving into the ditch. The driver left the vehicle and began hitchhiking south on Highway 144, and was shortly picked up by another motorist.

The driver was described as Caucasian male in his 40s, wearing all black clothes and carrying two bags.

Police located the vehicle in the ditch and from the investigation, the vehicle had been reported stolen from the City of Greater Sudbury on Nov. 28.
