Police have identified the body found in a Hearst river back in June.

June 4 at 6:15 p.m. the James Bay detachment located a body on the Mattawawishkwia River, which runs through the Northern Ontario community. It was found near Alary Drive, north of Highway 11.

OPP say the person has been identified as Alphonso Ferguson, an 18-year-old from Hearst who had been reported missing May 13.

"The OPP would like to thank the community and all involved persons for their efforts during the search and recovery," reads the update.
