One suspect arrested in relation to four theft incidents

KIRKLAND LAKE - On Feb. 18, 2021, frontline members from the Kirkland Lake Detachment of The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested a person for four separate theft from motor vehicle incidents that occurred in the Town of Kirkland Lake.

As a result, Tristan Hickey, 25 years of age from Kirkland Lake, has been charged with the following:

  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, contrary to section 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code (CC) (Three Counts),
  • Theft under $5,000 from a motor vehicle, contrary to section 334(b) of the CC (Two Counts),
  • Fraud under $5,000, contrary to section 380(1)(b) of the CC, and
  • Possession of a schedule I substance - methamphetamine, contrary to section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

The accused was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice by video on March 4, 2021.
