One person was killed in a crash on Highway 144 yesterday.

The highway remains closed between Highway 101 and The Watershed to allow for repairs following the collision that involved three commercial motor vehicles (CMV). It happened on Nov. 2 around 5 p.m. near Doyle Road just south of The Cache.

A southbound CMV collided with two northbound CMVs, which led to the highway being blocked, said South Porcupine OPP in an update today.

The name of the person who was killed will not be released until the next of kin are notified.

The investigation is ongoing. It involves the OPP Technical Collision Investigators (TCI), an OPP Collision Reconstructionist and the OPP Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (TIME) team. Cochrane District Emergency Medical Services (EMS), the Timmins Fire Department, the Mattagami First Nation Fire Department, the Ministry of the Environment (MOE) and the Ministry of Transportation of Ontario (MTO) also helped with the crash.

"The OPP would like to remind motorists to drive with caution as we enter the winter months," said OPP.
