Parents are being warned to check their children's Halloween candy haul after a needle was allegedly found in chocolate bar.
Timmins Police issued a public safety advisory today (Nov. 1) due to a "possible case of trick-or-treat candy being tampered with". They've also released a list of streets the person walked for Halloween.
Someone has reported to police that a needle was found inside of a commercially prepared and wrapped chocolate bar. It was given to a young child while trick-or-treating, said police in a news release.
The areas the child went trick-or-treating are:
- Diane Crescent
- Hart Street
- Brousseau Avenue
- Platt Vet property
- Sections of Gold Centre\
- Prospectors Street (Schumacher)
- Claimpost Trail
The matter is a high priority for local police.
"In keeping with parental due diligence, it is recommended that parents perform the necessary chore of inspecting all collected candy for any signs of tampering for obvious quality control and personal safety reasons," said police.
"Any suspected tampered candy should be brought to the Timmins Police station without delay in keeping with this investigation."
