Man shot multiple times in Cedar Street incident

Police are releasing more information about an incident that resulted in officers cordoning off part of a neighbourhood on Canada Day

Timmins Police Service is releasing more information about an incident that resulted in officers cordoning off a significant section of a residential neighbourhood on Canada Day.

Police were called to a Cedar Street North address early Saturday afternoon, where a 20-year-old man had been shot multiple times.

“The incident under investigation focuses on an altercation that occurred at the Cedar Street North address between two male suspects and the 20-year-old male victim,” police said in a news release.

“The altercation escalated quickly to the point where the victim sustained a number of gunshot wounds while trying to evade the suspects.“

The victim remains in hospital with serious injuries.

“A significant section of the immediate area was cordoned off in the interests of public safety but these restrictions have since been lifted,” police added.
